Summary profile
We present Annick, Nicky Richmond business manager.
In-depth studies
I obtained a Law degree in 1988 at the Free University Brussels and began my career as a lawyer at the Brussels bar, but then turned to Human Resources.
A believer in life-long learning, I have followed additional training programmes, including:
- post-graduate HR Advisor programme at the University of Antwerp,
- degree in Marketing & Advertising at the Solvay Business School, université libre de Bruxelles
- degree in maritime & aerial law, Université Libre de Bruxelles.
Wide experience
I have experience in a variety of sectors:
airline companies; pharmaceuticals; banking, insurance and finance; entertainment; the food industry; and the European Commission.
And experience in major multinationals: Kellogg's, Bertelsmann, Campina, Novartis...
Plus, solid experience in general human resources to the director level, and experience in fast-changing and crisis environments (airlines) as a temporary manager/director.
What it takes
My experience as temporary manager and director of human resources is vital to Nicky Richmond because - to fulfil your needs - we must:
- quickly grasp the state of affairs in your company
- quickly understand your working processes
- quickly comprehend the behaviour of your personnel - and the reasons for their behaviour - to integrate and act rapidly and effectively
- quickly analyse and summarise the problems your company is dealing with to find the right solutions for you
What I want to achieve
In 2001-2002, I worked as temporary Director Human Resources and General Services for D.A.T., an affiliate of Sabena Airlines (Belgium's former national carrier). This was a period of great uncertainty and stress due to the impending bankruptcy of the mother company Sabena.
Despite the strikes going on in Sabena, the D.A.T. employees stayed on the job, even taking over flights cancelled by the mother company. Directors, managers, and staff personnel continued to work together in the spirit of "strength in unity". The D.A.T. personnel remained loyal to their company, not abandoning it through months of difficulty. In November 2001, the mother company Sabena went bankrupt. But D.A.T. survived and is now called SN Brussels Airlines - the new Belgian national carrier.
I have deep respect for the D.A.T. personnel. These are people who work together - not against each other - remaining committed and motivated in periods of uncertainty. These are people who can deal with change and diversity, executives and staff members who are open to dialogue and are respectful towards each other. The D.A.T. executives were able to manage the company through troubled waters.
As we move forward, companies will need this kind of work force to survive in the climate of globalization and continuous change that they are doing business in. My goal is to assist companies in finding, developing and supporting international personnel "with the right spirit for the future" - and making them operational from Day 1. That's my passion!
